Quilts

Quilting is my new hobby!  I love being able to create a meaningful gift to give someone at a baby shower or for another occasion.

My newest project was making a quilt for my Grandma out of Granddad's old shirts.  Granddad passed away in March 24,2016, so I wanted to make something special for Grandma.  I finished this quilt on May 03,2016.  It took a while to make it (biggest quilt I've ever made) but I think it turned out great!  His old shirts are in the center with a paint splatter boarder and music note edge and back.  The back also has pink roses.  He was a painter and a musician, so I had to make sure to include music notes and paint!  His shirts are so soft since they were worn so many times.
Mother's day 2016, we had both families over for lunch.  We had spaghetti and meatballs, strawberry dump cake with ice cream, and then opened mother's day gifts and cards.  I handed Grandma her gift and she said "Wow, you really bought them out!" before she had opened it. (It was in a large gift bag) Once she saw what the gift was, she was truly touched that I had used Granddad's old shirts to make her a quilt.  She absolutely loved it and said "I wish he was here to see this."  I think Granddad is always smiling down on us painting or playing his horn.  she went home and immediately put it on her bed and it fit perfectly!  It was so nice having both families over this year to celebrate together.  :)

My Best friend Juliet had her baby boy Liam in 2015.  Her theme was Batman!  I had so much fun creating this quilt for Liam and giving it to her at the baby shower.  David's mom, Darlene is a great teacher and helped me sew it.  Thanks Darlene!

My friend Chelsea had her baby girl Violet in 2015 as well!  Her theme was purple and green with owls.  I added a bit of hippie fabric (peace signs) for Violet and it was fun to give it to her mom (Chelsea) before she was born.

I just finished David's sister's Francesca's quilt!  She absolutely loved it.  Blue and green with zoo animals.  Cristian James will be born around May 31, 2016!

I'll work on my neighbor Ashley's baby quilt who is due in October of this year as well!  Ashley loves dogs, so I thought I'd make her a puppy quilt for her little one.  This is a surprise too, so pictures after I give to her.

Their quilts will be a different pattern that I just learned from Darlene!  :)
